NLA raids Boatkan Police Station in Sagaing Region, seizes large cache of weapons and ammunition

On March 24th, the National Liberation Army (NLA) raided the Boatkan Police Station in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region.

The raid took place at approximately 7:00 AM, and during the operation, the NLA seized a large quantity of weapons and ammunition. The police station is situated on the Kalay-Tamu highway.

NLA has claimed that they seized a total of 15 different types of small arms, 2 bullets, 12 BA-63 rifle cartridges, 2 BA-94 cartridges, and 2 AK-47 assault rifle cartridges. Additionally, 2 trip mines and 3 grenades were also confiscated during the operation during the raid of the police station.

Furthermore, 2 bayonets mounted on BA-63, a dagger, 6 walkie-talkies, a communication device, 7 handcuffs, a baton with a taser, 3 regular batons, and some police uniforms were also seized.

The operation that resulted in success was named "Operation Coucal". A member of the NLA declared that their group will not tolerate any organization that supports the Military Council in the area and will continue to launch attacks until the oppressive regime is eliminated.

"Our revolution has a clear objective: to eradicate the military dictatorship by any means necessary. We also want to caution the Military Council's pillars in this region”, the NLA member said.

After the police station was raided, around noon, a Mi-35 helicopter belonging to the Military Council arrived and indiscriminately fired shots into the surrounding area.

Following the coup, an armed resistance movement was formed in the Tamu-Kabaw region under the name People's Defense Battalion 3. It was subsequently restructured as the NLA in March of this year.
