Nai Shwe Kyin Foundation will offer scholarship to university students

The Nai Shwe Kyin Foundation has been planning to offer scholarship grants to the students who passed the 2018 Matriculation examination.

The students who were accepted in the first year University enrollment can submit applications for scholarship not later than 30 January 2018, as said by Nai Kaung Lawi who is the secretary of the Nai Shwe Kyin Foundation.

“We have been delivering educational scholarship for three years,” Nai Kaung Lawi said.

In accordance with the intention of former chairman of the New Mon State Party Nai Shwe Kyin, we will partially support the university students studying five major subjects. Nai Shwe Kyin wants Mon youth to be intelligent and to become pioneers,” he continued.

The scholarship grant for a student would be Ks.400, 000 yearly. However, there are some rules to follow that scholarship applicants should be Mon nationals descended of Mon parents and he/she can speak Mon dialect. Besides, the applicants must be interested to study one of the subjects as follow - Archaeology, History, Geography, Myanmar Literature and Oriental Studies,

“Although students are offered grants, they won’t have scholarships when the failed their exams. If they passed their exams, they can enjoy scholarship grants continually,” said Mi Non Thae Pon who received 2016 scholarship grant.

Nai Shwe Kyin Foundation granted one student in 2016 and two students in 2017. It will choose at least two students in 2018 semester.

The Nai Shwe Kyin Foundation has been established on 30 March 2014 by his family members and disciples in order to carry out Nai Shwe Kyin’s desire in social development sector. The foundation will hold a commemoration ceremony of Nai Shwe Kyin on 7 March and the scholarship  grants will be offered on that day.
