Myanmar junta major assassinated in Mandalay Region’s Matara Township

A junta major as shot dead at the second attempt in Mandalay Region’s Matara Township on 7 November, according to the Tawgyi Mway Pway People's Defense Force (PDF).

Tawgyi Mway Pway PDF said that on 7 November defence force members broke into Major Aung Naing Soe’s house in Mwaytalaing Village in Matara Township at about 6:30 a.m. and shot at him twice but did not hit him and he escaped unharmed.

Later that day, at about 7:00 a.m. the defence forces caught up with the major at Matara Port where they shot at him again. This time they hit and killed him.

Previously, Major Aung Naing Soe worked in the junta army’s Hteetawmoe recruitment unit in Rakhine State’s Ann Township, but he had recently been transferred to Mwaytalaing Village where he continued to work for the Hteetawmoe recruitment unit, whilst also working as a quartermaster in the townships of Matara and Wetlet.

Following his death junta troops have been raiding villages in the area of Mwaytalaing Village.

Tawgyi Mway Pway PDF, Kaung Kin Revolution Force, and Daung Warrior Force all collaborated in the assassination.
