Myanmar junta burns village and displaces villagers in Sagaing’s Myaung Township

Junta personnel set fire to Shwe Pauk Pin Village in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region at noon on 22 October, according to a local resident.

The resident said that 50 junta troops stormed the village under artillery covering fire, which caused villagers to flee.

“Around 50 soldiers stormed into the village while continuously firing heavy artillery. The military council's men used heavy artillery, which resulted in numerous injuries. Some residents of the village were beaten before being arrested and interrogated”, said another local, who wished to remain anonymous for reasons of security.

The junta offensive in Myaung Township has reportedly displaced 5,000 people, forcing them to flee from five villages.
