The U.S. Embassy in Myanmar announced on February 25 that U.S. exporters and Myanmar buyers signed an agreement for Myanmar to purchase soybean meal from the United States.

Myanmar Agribusiness Public Company (MAPCO) and the U.S.-based International Feed Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the agreement.

The U.S. Embassy Rangoon Facebook page said that the embassy witnessed the signing of a new agreement between a U.S. exporter and Myanmar buyers to expand U.S. soybean meal exports to Southeast Asia.

Partnerships like this help open markets for American farmers while strengthening reliable supply chains and long-term commercial ties in the region, the embassy added.

It also stated that it welcomes commercial activity supporting economic growth and creating opportunities for producers and customers alike.

Ground peanut, soybean, sesame, and sunflower meal — byproducts of edible oil mills — are used as animal feed in Myanmar.

In mid-2025, rising oil seed meal prices led the Myanmar Edible Oil Millers' Association (MEOMA) to warn that imports might be needed without price adjustments.
