Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — Muslim religious leaders in the Arakan region of Myanmar expressed satisfaction that the religious minority people are now living with equal rights in their localities under the Arakan National League/Arakanese Army (ULA/AA) rule.
The Rakhine-based AMP reported that Muslim religious leaders, who attended an award function for outstanding students from ten Islamic religious schools (popularly known as Madrasas) on 31 January expressed their gratitude.
“Muslims are particularly grateful for the fact that the Rakhine People’s Revolutionary Government has provided equal rights to the beneficiaries in both religion and education sectors, which was not available during the Burmese military governments,” said the religious leaders.
The award ceremony was attended by over 1,500 people, including Islamic scholars & students and responsible officials from the ULA/AA with others.
The function kicked off with an opening song titled ‘Arakanese Nation’, which is dedicated to all people living in Rakhine State. The attending Islamic scholars and ULA/AA officials congratulated the meritorious winners and awarded the prizes to them.
The Rakhine People’s Revolutionary Government allowed the Islamic schools to open and function accordingly in the Arakan region.
The participating Islamic schools supported the award ceremony while examining their students prepared for various entrance examinations.
During the 2025 academic year, ten schools had a total of 402 students who were enrolled in grades two through eight and out of them 320 students passed the examination. Altogether 61 students were awarded in the function, stated the AMP report.
