Mudon Plywood Factory Managers Arrested by NMSP-AD

It has been reported that two managers of the Honda Myanmar Plywood Factory in Kyaik Shwe village, Mudon Township, Mon State, were arrested and taken away by the Mon State National Party (NMSP-AD).

NMSP-AD confirmed that the party arrested the two managers on November 6, 2024.

According to NMSP-AD spokesperson Nai Banya Mon, the factory managers were warned about the need to establish contact with local business owners in the region, as the NMSP-AD had been seeking to engage with them. The Honda Myanmar Plywood Factory failed to respond, leading to the arrest.

Nai Banya Mon told the Independent Mon News Agency, “It is our NMSP-AD group that arrested the Honda Myanmar Plywood Factory because we had asked all business owners in Mon State to establish contact with us. Since they did not respond, we had to intervene and arrest them.”

The two managers are still being detained by NMSP-AD as of November 8.

NMSP-AD further stated that all businesses within their operating territory are required to maintain contact with the party, and failure to do so will result in action being taken.

“The main message is that all business owners in our area must establish contact with us. We ask people, including those in Toll Gate, to come and engage with us,” added Nai Banya Mon.

On February 14, 2024, the NMSP-AD announced its separation from the Mon State National Party (NMSP) and partnership with revolutionary groups to fight against the military regime.

NMSP-AD operates not only in Mon State but also in Karen and Tanintharyi regions, often clarifying its stance on military council support, people’s defense, governance, and informing the public.
