More than 5,000 people were fleeing junta’s aerial bombardment and artillery shelling in Belin, Thaton and Hpa-an in KNU Brigaed 1.

The regime troops fired mortar rounds into Htonbogyi and Htonbolay villages in Thaton, Minsaw in Hpa-an and Dauktat village in Belin Township on a daily basis in the first week of February.

Moreover, the junta launched air raid around Shwe Yaung Pya village in Belin on the night of February 7, but no one was injured.

More than 5,000 people from ten villages have been displaced by junta airstrikes, and they have lived in nearby forests, according to the chairman of the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee who spoke to Than Lwin Times.

IDPs are receiving assistance from civil organizations, including KNU, but they are in urgent need of more food supplies, warm clothing, blankets, and humanitarian aid.

In January, at least 10 houses were destroyed by artillery shells fired by junta army, killing one civilian and injuring 12 others.
