More than 5,000 locals fled from homes due to airstrikes, ground forces of military in Magway

More than 5,000 civilians have fled their homes due to airstrikes and ground forces of the military in Htilin Township, Magway region.

The locals said that the military used a jet fighter in bombing over Laungbolay village on 20 April, and around 150 combined forces of soldiers and its militia Pyusawhti members headed to the village on 21 April, said the locals to Than Lwin Times.

These internally displaced persons are from 16 villages of Htilin Township. Among them, the junta troops set fire to Punna and Pazinchaung villages.

A local said to Than Lwin Times, “Junta troops entered the northern part of Htilin Township. They burnt down the entire Pazinchaunge village yesterday. They are now stationing at two miles south of Laungbolay village at present.”

He also said that the displaced persons are in urgent need of foods and drinking water .

The military’s airstrike hit people’s administration office and IDP clinic on 20 April, killing 2 men and 1 woman, and 12 injured.

The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners reported that nearly 300 civilians were killed in Magway region after the military coup.
