Between the coup on February 1st, 2021, and February 28th, 2023, at least 415 residential houses in Kachin State have been destroyed as a result of arson committed by the Military Council and its affiliated groups, according to Data For Myanmar.

Civilians' houses were burned down in the townships of Hpakant, Putao, Shwegu, Momauk, and Myitkyina in Kachin State.

Out of all the townships affected by arson, Hpakant suffered the most extensive damage, with a total of 404 houses destroyed by fire.

A total of 404 houses in Madayan, Mawbone, and Sezin villages located in Hpakant Township, 5 houses in Tsumpiyang village in Putao, 1 in Dumgam village in Myitkyina, 4 houses in Tharyarkone and Sithaw in Shwegu, and 3 houses in Hkarnan and Lawtdan villages in Momauk were severely or completely destroyed in these arson attacks.
