The Burmese Women’s Union (BWU) released a report on October 7 that at least 300 women were killed from February 1 coup last year to this September.

Furthermore, there were 23 women killed and 31 others arbitrarily detained in September alone.

During the coup, 2,400 women were detained, with over 200 of them sentenced to various punishments.

Nine of the more than 200 women convicted have been sentenced to death, with another ten sentenced to life imprisonment. More than 50 women have received prison sentences of 9 years and above.

This data was collected from the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) and the Burmese Women's Union (BWU), but the number on the ground could be much higher.

The women, who were detained in September, were arrested during an inspection of an overnight guest list, and they were arrested because of what they said and posted on social media, according to the assistant in charge of the News and Archive Department of BWU.

Furthermore, the rule of law is deteriorating as a result of the political instability caused by the military coup, and there have been reports of women being killed in the midst of theft, robbery, and looting.

However, despite the harsh repression of the military council, women continue to take part in the protests against the military dictatorship and work as combatants and support personnel in the ongoing revolution.
