Representatives of the TTC Public Co., Ltd met with Mon State’s Investment and Companies Directorate Department officials on Friday [September 2]. At the meeting, the company’s representatives presented its plan to choose a location where the majority of rubber is produced to construct a plant. The plant will produce fuel from recycling raw rubber trees including its branches and roots, according to U Myint Lwin, the head of Mon State’s Investment and Companies Directorate Department.

“They [TTCL Co.] plan to build the plant. However, so far, they have not moved on their plan. They haven’t even submitted an inquiry about the land for the factory nor whether it will be privately or government owned,” said U Myint Lwin, in an interview with MNA.

U Myint Lwin also said that the TTCL Co., Ltd met with the Investment and Companies Directorate Department to discuss how it would need to present the plan to the Myanmar Investment Commission if it happened to go ahead with it.

“TTCL came to meet with the [state] government about the pellet fuel plant idea. TTCL will use rubber branches and wood sticks to produce pellet fuel. It will grind the tree branches and roots and mix with coal to produce pellet fuel,” said Dr. Min Kyi Win, the minister of Mon State’s natural resource and environment conservation.

The TTCL has not disclosed its plan to the Mon State Government in detail. It will conduct a field study and then present its finding to the government. As per TTCL’s plan, if the public accepts it, the state government will not turn it down, according to Dr. Min Kyi Win.

However, the TTCL already disclosed to the government that it would choose a location, either in Ye or Thanbyuzayat town where rubber trees are produced, to construct the rubber waste pellet fuel plant.
