125 people, comprised of 100 men and 25 women, have died in vehicle accidents from January to April this year throughout Mon State’s 10 township, with an additional 482 people injured, according to Mon State’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.
In accidents where a driver was at fault, 135 crashes involved an automobile and 140 were involving a motorbike. Overall, 262 vehicles were licensed, while 25 were unlicensed vehicles. The causes of the 250 accidents were due to reckless driving and 37 crashes took place at high speed, according to the records from the traffic enforcement unit.

The list of vehicle accidents revealed that 331 men and 4 women were charged with reckless driving and the cost was up to 44,404,300 Kyats to cover damages.
According to the Mirror Daily, during April alone there were 79 accidents resulting in 44 deaths and 136 injuries in Mon state. It also stated that there were 1974 vehicle accidents throughout the country, leaving 509 people dead and 3068 injured.
The highest number of accidents took place in Irrawaddy Division. The area experienced 283 cases of road accidents with 603 people injured and 62 dead. The highest road mortality was in Pegu Division with 68 people dead in 246 accidents and had 446 people injured.
It is reportedly stated that in 2015, there were about 15,406 vehicle accidents across the country resulting in 25,614 injuries and 4233 deaths.
