People in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, are concerned because the regime forces have been conducting offensive forcefully even when there is no fighting after the Arakan Army (AA) took control of two junta camps, the locals told Than Lwin Times.

The junta’s fighter jets bombed twice the mountains near Tamanthar village in the north of Maungdaw Township around 2 pm on September 12.

"The locals are fleeing to safe locations as the fear is rising even more," a resident said, "The military troops have been conducting airstrikes and firing heavy weapons at night when there were no clashes these days."

In addition, in the villages in the north of Maungdaw Township, the military council has blocked the road with a large force under the pretext of security, and the residents say that it is difficult for the people to travel and make a living.

After almost two years without engaging in conflict, the Arakan Army (AA) and the junta army resumed fighting again on August 13.

Currently, there is a military tension between the Military Council and the AA in Rakhine State, and on August 31, the regime’s mile post no. 40 on the border of Rakhine State and Bangladesh was attacked and occupied by the AA.

Similarly, on September 10, the Arakan Army (AA) captured the camp of the light infantry battalion (352), on Gopikyaw Road (Peyuntaung) in the north of Maungdaw Township, and seized weapons, ammunition, and military equipment.
