Military MP seconds proposal not to fight under cover of religious buildings

Three Arakan State lawmakers and a military-appointed lawmaker seconded the proposal not to fight under the cover of ancient or religious buildings and residential or public areas, which was submitted in Arakan State parliament session on Monday.

Military-appointed lawmaker Lt-Col Win Bo said that he seconded the proposal because it intended to conserve the priceless heritage and ancient buildings.

The state parliament on Wednesday passed the proposal, put forward by Arakan State MP for Minbya Township of U Hla Aung Thein.

The proposal received 31 votes of favor and one vote to record its submission.

U Hla Aung Thein, mover of the proposal, said that he submitted the proposal to receive the help from the government to stop gunfire in public areas.

People become hostages to war because of the confrontations between armed organizations in Arakan State, and the number of war displaced people has reached over 65,000.
