The  Military Council's National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) issued a warning, stating their intention to employ destructive weapons against areas currently under the control of resistance forces.

Brigadier General Tar Bone Kyaw, the Secretary of the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), a member organization of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, shared on social media that during the meeting in Kunming between the Alliance and the NSPNC organized by the Chinese government on December 23rd, the Military Council issued the aforementioned threat.

During the Kunming meeting, Lieutenant General Min Naing of NSPNC represented the coup Military Council and engaged in a three-day discussion with the member organizations of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, specifically, the Arakan Army (AA), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), and TNLA.

 

During those meetings, Lieutenant General Min Naing said, "Even though you could seize  towns and villages within your ethnic territories, your regions will never enjoy lasting peace.  We will consistently subject those areas to aerial bombardment using our formidable weaponry”, according to Brigadier General Tar Bone Kyaw.

Political analyst U Pe Than remarked that these words encapsulate the underlying perspective driving the Military Council's desire to engage in discussions with the Three Brotherhood Alliance.

"In approaching the discussion, their strategy seems to be underlined by a threatening tone, as if seeking an advantageous position. While the head of the Military Council extended an invitation for political dialogue, the actual discourse revealed a lack of political intent. Making such threats in a dignified discussion appears short-sighted, almost exposing their true intentions. The repercussions of these attitudes may hinder the timely resolution of future issues on the discussion table”, U Pe Than noted.

Prior to issuing such an explicit threat, the Military Council had already conducted airstrikes employing formidable weapons in ethnic regions and areas with strong resistance.

"While the Military Council has only vocalized such a threat recently, their actions on the ground have reflected this commitment for an extended period. Daily reports of their airstrikes have become commonplace. It is anticipated that they will continue to heavily depend on airstrikes in the future, suggesting that this type of threat is unlikely to bring about a significant shift in their approach”, an official from Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) responded.

TNLA alleged the use of chemical bombs by the Military Council following the capture of a Military Council base in Namhkam Township on November 17th, last year. However, the Junta Regime dismissed TNLA's accusation.

The Three Brotherhood Alliance declared the successful capture of over 400 Military Council bases and outposts, along with 13 towns, throughout 'Operation 1027’, commenced on October 27th in northern Shan State.

On December 24th, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the leader of the Military Council, declared that his regime would consistently embrace peace and extend invitations for peace talks, driven by the Junta's dilemmas on the battlefield resulting from the offensives by the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
