The Nonpartisan Guerrilla group has reported that the Military Council is engaged in distributing propaganda leaflets that contain false and defamatory information about the National Union Government (NUG) and the National League for Democracy (NLD) Party in Tanintharyi Township.
Eyewitnesses have reported that troops belonging to the Military Council distributed the propaganda leaflets to individuals passing by, as well as affixed them in densely populated areas and on street poles. Following the dissemination of these pamphlets, those responsible were observed fleeing into a nearby battalion compound.
"I witnessed that four or five soldiers were actively distributing leaflets amidst the bustling pedestrians in the early morning. Their actions were swift, and soon after, they hastily retreated," a 35-year-old villager told NMG.
On May 28th at 7:00 AM, soldiers belonging to the 561st Battalion, stationed in Nyaungpinkwyin village located in Tanintharyi Township, distributed leaflets in the eastern areas of the village as well as in the neighboring villages to the west.
Upon receiving intelligence about the distribution of leaflets by the Military Council troops, the revolutionary forces proceeded to set up an ambush, however, the soldiers did not reemerge from their battalion compound, an officer of the Nonpartisan Guerrilla group said.
The leaflets distributed by the Military Council accused the extremist politicians within the NUG and NLD of advocating for an incorrect path of armed resistance and exploiting the youth, resulting in the unnecessary loss of young lives and the complete devastation of the nation. Furthermore, the leaflets criticized the People's Defense Force (PDF) as a manipulated entity being utilized by political opportunists.
According to the Nonpartisan Guerrilla group, the 561st Battalion, situated in Nyaungpinkwyin village, has been identified as a location frequently targeted by the People's Defense Force (PDF) to launch their attacks.
The region surrounding villages like Banlaw, Thakyat, and 6-Mile along the Tanintharyi-Thabawlake Road also experiences regular instances of clashes, locals said.
