Majority of Paletwa IDPs Return To Their Villages

The majority of internally displaced people in Paletwa town, who fled the latest armed clash between Arakan Army (AA) and Myanmar Army’s troops in Chin State’s Paletwa Township, have returned to their respective villages, according to U Wai Tan, chairman of Paletwa IDPs Relief Group.

As of June 10, there were 787 IDPs, 158 households from five villages. At present, IDPs from three villages have already returned.

IDPs from Thay Ma Chaung village will also set out today to Pyi Nay Htapyin village located near Thay Ma Chaung. There will be only 112 IDPs left in Paletwa town, said U Wai Tan.

“Around two-thirds of IDPs have already returned to their respective villages. 61 IDPs from Thay Ma Chaung village will also set out today. They will be heading to Pyi Nay Htapyin village. At present, there are 112 IDPs from 25 families left in Paletwa town,” U Wai Tan said.
