Locals urged to stay alert and prepared amid escalating tensions in Chin State

The Senthang Central Council (SCC) issued a statement on May 23 urging residents to dig bomb shelters and stockpile food and medicine, citing concerns over a major junta offensive involving multiple military columns advancing into Chin State from different directions.

It warned that junta troops could also infiltrate and deploy across the Chin State’s Senthang region through various routes, and urged residents to regard the current period as a critical phase of the national situation.

The SCC also announced that the Senthang Revolution Force (SRF) will strengthen security inspections at checkpoints across the region.

It also cautioned that anyone seeking to travel through SCC-controlled territory must carry recommendation letters issued by the relevant resistance groups.

SCC further stated that the measures are being implemented out of security and military necessity, and urged the public to understand the situation, follow the current instructions, and cooperate until further notice.
