Local Defense Force explodes mine on Taungoo to Naypyidaw railway line

The Taungoo Urban Resistance Force detonated a mine on the Taungoo to Naypyidaw railway line in Taungoo Township in Bago Region on 1 May at 7am, according to a spokesperson from the organisation.

They said that they blew up the railway line because the army use it to move food, ammunition and other supplies.

“It was alleged that the Military Council was transferring food, ammunitions, and supplies on this route. It was also reported that Min Aung Hlaing would use this line to come to Taungoo, so we detonated a mine at the northern end of the Taungoo to Naypyidaw railway line as a warning to the Military Council”, said the spokesperson.

They also said that currently, they do not know how much damage or how many casualties the explosion caused because resistance fighters have been unable to return to the area as soldiers are still inspecting it.

In a statement the Taungoo Urban Resistance Force said that members of the public should not use the Taungoo to Naypyidaw railway route at the current time. It also apologized and asked for the public’s forgiveness for its attacks on public property which is being used by the military dictatorship.
