KSCC works to finalize the Karenni State Administrative Council

KSCC Chairman U Aung San Myint said that since the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Karenni State Administrative Council formed by the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) have been appointed, they are working to complete the formation of the council in March.

U Aung San Myint said that the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Karenni State Administrative Council will continue to form the necessary administrative bodies in the Karenni State, and currently the necessary discussions have been started through them.

"In order to establish the committees of the Administrative Council, we need to know what the old ones have done, and what difficulties we have faced when implementing the works, and what is needed. We are now starting the dialogues. Only after the dialogues are started, we will have the right people in the right place when we reconstitute the next committees. Moreover, we will be able to do real effective implementation," he said.

U Aung San Myint added that after this formation, KSCC's strategies will be drawn up and business plans will be further drawn up and implemented.

The first conference of KSCC was held last January 17-20, 2023, and 11 members of the KSCC consisting of 6 forces were elected. Out of those 11 members, 7 members of the executive team were selected and approved.

U Aung San Myint said that Karenni State is trying to implement administrative, legislative, and judicial aspects by forming administrations and starting to apply federal model systems.

"This is the practical exercise of the right to self-determination that we have wanted for more than 70 years. So, the practical exercise of the right to self-determination does not mean that we have separated from the Union. I would like to say that we have started to exercise the right of the state, our right to exercise within the Union,"he said.

The Karenni Consultative Council (KSCC) was established on April 9, 2021 after the coup. Within two years of its formation, the National League for Democracy (NLD), the Kayan New Land Party (KNLP) and the Karenni National People's Liberation Front (KNPLF) that had participated in the KSCC withdrew due to various reasons.
