KIA and PDF attack Myanmar junta troops in northern Shan State

Locals claim that since 27 September, the Kachin independence Army and PDF combined forces have been engaged in fierce fighting with Military Council troops in Namtu Township and Manton Township in northern Shan State.

On 29 September, KIA-led PDF combined forces attacked the 130th Battalion base in Manton Township of Palaung Autonomous Region. Separately, in the afternoon, the Manton police station was raided and set on fire, a local informant confirmed.

No report of damage or casualties from the incident have been made.

"The fighting between the KIA and Regime troops broke out in several areas in Manton, here and there. The army base near the Bawdwin area is firing artillery blindly towards the Kone Kayah village in Manton Township. So, the villagers fled from Kone Kayah to the Manton town. The junta troops were firing all day in Manton, until dawn on 29 September," a resident said.

In addition, fierce fighting is still going on along the Namtu-Manton Road in Namtu Township, northern Shan State, according to the KIA.
