State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said that keeping promises and having integrity was important for implementing the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

She was speaking in her opening address delivered at the ceremony of the 4th anniversary of signing NCA held at Myanmar International Convention Centre II (MICC-II) in Naypyitaw.

“The difficulties being faced today are not because of NCA but because of weaknesses, misunderstanding and not abiding by the NCA agreement. Every leader of signatory organizations of NCA well understands it is very important to have integrity and keep promises in implementing this NCA agreement,” State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said.

Tatmadaw (Defence Services) C-in-C Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing said in his address that political dialogue would not be succeed if there was scepticism and ego in negotiations.

“In the peace process and peace negotiations we will not get success if we only point our fingers at the past. All of us living in the present age have responsibility to build a more peaceful, more prosperous and more developed socio-economic life. I would like to suggest to all in this great peace process it will be a success if we can do it with real commitment and by looking at ourselves without subjectivism, what mistakes we made in the past and what weaknesses we had,” Tatmadaw C-in-C Senior Gen. Min Aung Hlaing said.

State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said that her administration would get a common position for post-2020 programmes regarding continuing the peace process.
