Junta torches 40 more houses in Palaw

Junta troops raided Shatpon Village in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region, and torched approximately 40 houses before leaving.

At around noon on January 31, a 40-strong junta column reached the village and torched houses in the town center.

Shortly after PDF members attacked a nearby junta encampment, the junta reportedly retaliated by burning houses in Shatpon Village, locals said.

Shatpon remains caught between parallel deployments of junta and PDF forces, with regime troops stationed on the eastern outskirts and resistance fighters on the western outskirts.

Following the arrival of soldiers near the village, many Shatpon residents evacuated to nearby towns and villages.

On January 27 and 28, junta troops reportedly burned over 100 houses in Ward 4 of Pala Town, Palaw Township, and in nearby To Village, locals said.
