Junta launches heavy airstrike on Kanpetlet

The junta conducted a heavy airstrike on Kanpetlet Town in Chin State’s Kanpetlet Township on December 9.

Starting at noon on December 9, the junta carried out at least eight bombing runs around the hotel zone north of Kanpetlet Town within a 15-minute span.

“The bombs fell in the hotel zone north of the town. There are no residential areas there, so we hope civilian casualties will be limited," said an official of the resistance-run township humanitarian department.

The Chin Brotherhood (CB) Alliance seized control of Kanpetlet Town on December 22, 2024.

Details regarding damage and casualties in Kanpetlet Town from the junta’s airstrike remain unknown.

A source from Kanpetlet also said that three fighter jets took off from Tada-U Airbase in Mandalay Region and carried out a series of bombings on the town.

On December 6, three days before the bombings, a junta reconnaissance aircraft circled over Kanpetlet Town for an extended period, according to local resistance fighters.

Similarly, on December 2, around 10:00 am, Kanpetlet Town was targeted by junta airstrikes, but no buildings were damaged and no civilians were harmed.
