Junta burns down 84 houses in 10 months in Tanintharyi Region

Junta troops have set fire to 84 houses in Tanintharyi Region from September 2021 to June 2022, according to the Southern Monitor.

Junta troops set fire to 31 houses in Palaw Township, 25 in Thayet Chaung Township, 18 in Tanintharyi Township, 4 in Dawei Township, 3 in Yebyu Township, 2 in Launglon Township and one in Myeik Township.

According to an official from the Southern Monitor, Pyu Saw Htee militias and the Military Security Force (MSF) under the Military Council were also involved in the arson attack.

The Southern Monitor is an independent group that monitors socio-economic, conflict trends, impacts of violent conflict and human rights issues in Tanintharyi Region.
