Junta Artillery Attack on Buthidaung Township

In Buthidaung Township, Rakhine State, three people, including two Muslim children, were killed, and six others were injured due to artillery shells fired by Military Council troops.

On November 27, around 5:00 p.m., the Military Council's Light Infantry Battalion 564 and 565, based in Buthidaung, fired artillery shells at Ah Shay Pyin Shae (Muslim) village in Buthidaung Township, despite the absence of any ongoing conflict. One of these shells exploded in a field near the eastern market of War Shee Lar village.

A woman from Buthidaung Township informed Narinjara that individuals within the plantation were killed and injured, as a result of the explosion caused by such artillery shells. "It was not fired from the town. Battalions 564 and 565 were involved in the firing. I heard about three artillery shells. One landed near a Muslim village, resulting in three casualties. The injured individuals are currently in the hospital in the town," she explained

Those killed by artillery shell shrapnel include Ahrud Rulah (8 years old), Adula (10 years old), and Daw Bay Zar (60 years old) from War Shee Lar village in Kun Taing village-tract.

Residents reported that the injured individuals are Sami Yula (38 years old), Johaye (28 years old), Muzi Sam (19 years old), Mizam (30 years old), Nuru Zamet (age unknown), and a man whose name and age are not yet known.

Residents reported that the Military Council troops were indiscriminately firing artillery shells into residential villages without any apparent reason.

"There was no fighting yesterday. They were firing without any apparent reason," expressed a resident from Buthidaung.

Currently, six injured individuals are undergoing medical treatment at Buthidaung Township Hospital.
