IDPs in urgent need of medical assistance in Chin State’s Kanpetlet

People who fled to the jungle and became internally displaced people (IDPs) because of fighting in villages in Chin State’s Kanpetlet Township on 20 March, are reportedly in urgent need of medical assistance.

A religious leader said: "The fighting in Kanpetlet has been going on for a long time. The junta troops randomly fired heavy artillery from a distance. The villagers dared not remain in the village. There were even pregnant women who miscarried while fleeing to the forest,”

Kanpetlet Red Cross said on social media: “As villagers had to hastily flee to the forests and mountains, they could not bring blankets with them. They had to sleep on the ground without blankets for four nights. As it was raining the elderly, the disabled, children and pregnant women were having a lot of problems. Our medical team did not have enough medicine.”

Vitamin pills for the elderly; medicines for infants and toddlers; rehydration salts and medicines for diarrhea; and medicines for coughs and asthma are all in urgent need, according to the Kanpetlet Red Cross.
