Haka Christian Inter- Denominational Ministers Association issued an appeal to avoid any grand Xmas and New Year celebrations

The Haka Christian Inter- Denominational Ministers Association has announced that this year Christmas and New Year celebrations in Hakha, the capital of Chin State, should be modest, urging the people not to decorate the churches nor hold community dinners, but to praise and worship the Lord only in their respective churches.

Christmas that is coming soon on December 25 th is a special day for Christians.

A Haka pastor clarified “ we have decided not to have feasts in churches and

neighborhoods, not to go to carol singing, and not to make decorations outside the building. Instead we will hold small celebrations in churches and private houses.”

It has been 2 years now that Hakha has not been able to celebrate Christmas and New Year in a big way, due to the covid epidemic and the military coup. The festivals have been announced to be held quietly, rather than any grand gatherings this year, because of the current political situation.

This statement is not intended for the whole of Chin State, but only for the city of Hakha.
