Grenade Found In Kyaukme Monastery

While cleaning a monastery in northern Shan State’s Kyaukme Township on Friday, monks uncovered a grenade in the facilities.

The discovery occurred at around 10:30 a.m. in Weiluwun monastery. The monk who found the grenade said that it was in a plastic bag and that he was “really shocked” when he saw it.

Kyaukme parliamentarian Sai Tun Win confirmed that local authorities came and removed the explosive.

“We don’t know which organization left the grenade there,” he said.

Police officers in Kyaukme say that they are investigating the case.

The Burma Army, military-backed People’s Militia Forces, and various ethnic armed organizations are active in the area.
