Fighting Near Taingen Displaces 2,000, Urgent Aid Needed

Fierce clashes near Taingen Village in Tedim Township, Chin State, have forced over 2,000 locals from nearby villages to flee, urgently requiring food and shelter assistance.

Two junta columns, departing from Tedim Town, and Kale (Kalay) Town in neighboring Sagaing Region, are advancing simultaneously toward Taingen from different directions, sparking clashes with Chin resistance forces, according to the spokesperson for Chinland Defense Force–Civic Defense Militia Siyin (CDF-CDM Siyin).

“Everyone from Mualpi, Arlwei, and the nearby villages has been displaced. No one has been able to return home. The number of displaced people is over 2,000 and could be as high as 3,000. They urgently need food, shelter, and medicine. Many of them are elderly or children,” he told Khonumthung News.

At least 2,000 to 3,000 residents from eight villages; Mualpi, Tuisau, Tungzang, Hizang, Taingen, Swalai, Anlangh, and Buanli have fled their homes.

The Chin resistance forces have urged locals in northern Chin State to stay alert for war updates before traveling, as the movements of hundreds of junta troops and clashes with resistance forces remain unpredictable.

Daily clashes between the junta column of around 400 troops advancing from Tedim to Taingen and the Chin Brotherhood (CB) Alliance occurred from October 29 to November 7. CB announced that at least 40 junta soldiers were killed, some prisoners of war were captured, and 14 locals were rescued.

CB added that the junta also suffered setbacks in the ongoing fighting on the Tedim–Taingen Road after November 7, with around 20 killed and many more injured.

Similarly, another junta column advancing from Kale to Taingen was stalled near Mualpi after fierce resistance from Chin forces blocked its progress.

However, the junta's offensive forced Chin resistance forces to withdraw from strategic positions, including the Kennedy Peak and Taingen encampments.
