In the Kyaukphyu Township's Gawtu village, where the battle had raged, junta forces conducted a drone assault that killed two IDPs and wounded five more.

Due to continuing conflict close to their village, the two deceased were identified as U Zaw Myint Aye, 48, and Daw Ma Kyan Thein, 51, who had fled to Gawtu village from Leik Kha Maw New Village in Kyaukphyu Township.

The wounded were U Maung Naing Win, 48; U Johnson, 52; U Maung Aye Phyu, 65; and U Khin Maung Myint, 43, as well as Ko Soe Win Naing, 24, who had also escaped from Leik Kha Maw New Village to Gawtu village.

According to a local man from Kyaukphyu, the junta army bombed Gawtu village at about 1 pm on August 16, resulting in deaths and injuries.

As the military has assaulted them with drones, forcing them to flee once more, the present Kyaukphyu fighting is at its worst, and residents are fleeing for safety.

"The junta army continues to attack with drones and naval weapons into the nearby village. They search the key targets where the AA might be stationed. But innocent people get hurt. Currently, in addition to setting fire to the old and new villages of Leik Kha Maw, there are those who are fleeing Gawtu village due to the drone assaults," he stated.

Emergency medical assistance is being given to the wounded.

The junta navy opened fire on a military base in Leik Kha Maw village, Kyaukphyu Township, on August 14, killing a 40-year-old man.

The terrorist army is still firing, utilizing the three forces—the army, navy, and air force—because the battle between the AA and the terrorist army in Kyaukphyu is growing worse, and the terrorist army is sustaining significant losses.

The LIB (543), the navy stationed at Ngala Pwei creek, and the navy stationed at Leik Kha Maw have all been firing artillery shells every day this August in Kyaukphyu, as well as firing from paramotors and drones, a local resident said.
