A displaced woman was injured when junta forces carried out a drone bombing targeting displaced civilians who were harvesting groundnuts near Dawnyaykhu village in Hpruso Township, Karenni State.
The attack occurred around 11 a.m. on October 13. According to a male displaced villager, a 45-year-old woman was hit on her arm and sustained serious injury.
“The drone came twice. The first time, it dropped one bomb, but it landed a bit far. Then, while we were taking a lunch break, it came back again and dropped another one. That’s when she got hit,” he said.
The injured woman had been harvesting groundnuts with her family when the attack occurred.
Revolutionary forces have urged locals to remain cautious when traveling along the Demoso–Hpruso–Bawlakhe highway, as junta troops have been moving and operating along that route. However, since it is harvest season, some villagers take the risk to go to their farms for harvesting.
“If we can manage to go, we’ll work. But, now there are artillery shells landing nearby, so we’re really afraid,” said a local resident.
Residents added that there have been no recent clashes in Hpruso Township in the past few days.
