China’s Special Envoy on Asian Affairs Sun Guoxiang and a team of delegates met with leaders of organizations belonging to the Northern Alliance of ethnic armed groups on the Burma-China border last week.

H.E Mr. Sun Guoxiang met a delegation led by the Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) led by Maj-Gen Khun Seng on January 9.

“We built mutual trust among ourselves. We also discussed how to move Myanmar’s peace process forward and address issues around stability in the China-Shan border area,” an officer from the SSPP’s information department told SHAN.

In the one-hour exchange, H.E. Sun Guoxiang reportedly urged stakeholders resolve difficulties by using peaceful means.
