Chin Disaster Response Coordination held a meeting in Yangon on 14 to 15 August to decide how to distribute the 100 million kyats donated by the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO) to flood affected people in Chin State and two other regions.

Mai Hanah Sung, an official at the meeting said: "Representatives from all nine townships in Chin State, Magwe Region and Kalaymyo attended the meeting. They all agreed to distribute the aid to 12 areas in Myanmar."

The KIO donation is the largest donation that has been made to the Chin people, from both inside and outside the state. Chin Disaster Response Coordination is not just distributing the aid to the nine townships in Chin State, it is also sending some of the aid to Magwe Region and Kalymyo.
