A report said that a truck carrying 250 bags of rice and other food items to flood affected people in Hakha, Chin State came off the road in India and fell 100 meters.

The accident happened 8km from Chawngtlai Village whilst the truck was travelling from the Merabawk area to the Indo-Myanmar border at 2:30 am on 19 August.

Vanglaini Newspaper said that the driver and his assistant were injured in the 100 meter fall and they were taken to Khawzawl civilian hospital. The accident also ruined 100 bags of rice.

The relief items had been donated by the Chin Emergency Relief Committee (Delhi) and the Mizo Students Union (MSU) from Aizawl. They were to be transported in India from Aizawl through Champhai to Farkawn before going to Burma and being taken via Victoria Camp in Thantlang to flood and landslide victims in Hakha, Chin State.

Meanwhile, on 19 August, ZONET, a local TV channel in Mizoram, organised a charity idol show for flood affected people in Chin State and the Kalay-Kabaw region and viewers donated more than 400,000 rupees (approx $6,000USD).
