Chin State Council Sets 60-Day Timeline to Form Chin State Parliament, Cabinet, and Supreme Court

The Chin State Council assembly has declared that the establishment of the Chin State Parliament, Cabinet and Supreme Court will be completed within the next 60 days.

The constitution for Chin State was deliberated and approved during the assembly on December 6th, as announced by the Chin State Council the following day.

The inaugural assembly of the Chin State Council took place from December 4th to 7th at Victoria Base in Chinland. The gathering included representatives from the Chin National Front (CNF), winning candidates in the 2020 general elections from Chin State constituencies, township and regional representatives, as well as domestic and foreign guests, totaling 235 participants.

Organized and conducted by CNF, the assembly saw non-participation from specific resistance forces in certain townships, which accused the event of not meeting democratic standards, failing to represent the unity of the entire Chin people, and deviating from principles of equality.

Resistance forces, notably from Mindat, Tedim, and Falam, avoided the CNF-organized assembly and publicly stated their reasons for non-attendance on December 5th.
