Chin resistance forces retake hilltop outpost from junta in Falam

In Falam Township, Chin State, the Chin resistance coalition successfully recaptured the Htinshu hilltop outpost, which had previously fallen to the junta. The operation took place around 1:00 a.m. on February 14.

Along with 11 small arms, the resistance forces also seized several artillery pieces that junta troops were unable to carry during their retreat.

Junta troops advancing from Taingen Town in Chin State captured the Htinshu outpost, originally built as a defensive position, on February 13. The following day, the Chin resistance coalition successfully retook the outpost.

“The junta column came up from Taingen and captured our Htinshu outpost on February 13. But we managed to retake it around 1:00 a.m. on February 14. We were able to seize about 11 small arms from the outpost, and we also discovered some artillery pieces and rounds that the junta troops had hidden because they couldn’t take them with them. We found those after clearing the area around the outpost,” said Salai Timmy, spokesperson for the Chin National Organisation/ Chin National Defence Force (CNO/CNDF).

The junta is conducting a large-scale military operation with thousands of troops in an attempt to recapture Falam, which remains under the control of resistance forces. It has also deployed airstrikes and drone attacks to support its ground offensive. Despite four months of fighting and heavy casualties, the regime has yet to achieve its objectives, due to the resistance forces’ persistent and effective counterattacks.
