Chin resistance confiscates Starlink equipment in Kanpetlet

Chin resistance forces have been confiscating equipment connected to the Starlink internet network in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State. The seizures began about a month ago and are reportedly aimed at preventing criticism of their conscription efforts from spreading online, according to locals.

“I haven’t been able to get in touch with my family back home for about a month now. I’ve heard that resistance fighters are confiscating Starlink equipment in Kanpetlet town and the surrounding rural areas. They’re reportedly doing this to stop criticism of their conscription efforts from spreading online. From what I understand, the seizures could continue for another two to three months,” said a Kanpetlet resident currently living in a distant region.

Due to military conflict and the risk of airstrikes by the junta, more people in Kanpetlet Township now prefer to live in rural areas rather than in the town.

The township seat, Kanpetlet Town, was captured by the Chin Brotherhood Alliance on December 23, 2024. The town’s administrative affairs are now overseen by the Chinland Defence Force - Kanpetlet (CDF-Kanpetlet).

The junta has cut off internet access across all seven townships in Chin State, including Kanpetlet, forcing locals to rely primarily on Starlink for online connectivity.
