A bomb exploded at the Bureau of Special Investigation department in No. (13) Myat Toe Ward, Pathein township, Ayeyarwady Region at around 12:20 pm on 5 November, according to local reports.

The attack was carried out jointly by the Pathein Special Task Force (PSTF) and Kan Gyi Daung People’s Defence Force (PDF), according to a PSTF representative.

He said: "Because the Bureau of Special Investigation is a pillar of the military regime, it has been bombed and attacked. According to the most recent information, one person was injured during the incident. We still don't know who was hit and who wasn't. However, all of our members are currently safe.”

Following the bomb blast, many junta troops and police officers searched the area and an ambulance arrived, according to local residents.

The Special Investigations Department is near to the office of the Ayeyarwady Region Chief of Police and several junta departmental offices
