Artillery fire kills 9 in Ponnagyun

Naung Naung — Rakhine State legislative assembly legislator Aung Than Tin from Ponnagyun constituency said that artillery fire hit Kyauk Seik village in Ponnagyun Township, Rakhine State on April 13 at about 7 a.m. and killed nine civilians and six were wounded. The wounded civilians were sent to hospital for emergency treatment, he said.

Four villagers were killed instantly on the spot and another three died at Ponnagyun hospital. Two more villagers died on the way to Sittwe hospital.

It is not yet known clearly which who fired the heavy weapon.
