More than 100 people waged a protest in front of the Myanmar embassy in Tokyo, Japan on 21 October while Daw Aung San Suu Kyi visited Japan to attend the Japanese emperor’s enthronement ceremony.
The protestors headed by the Arakanese Youths’ Union-Japan denounced the State Counsellor’s order to wipe out the Arakan Army (AA) that escalated armed conflicts in Arakan State.
Ko Kyaw Than Hlaing, chairperson of the Arakanese Youths’ Union, raised a question concerning Myanmar’s de facto leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
“Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said that she would be above the President since she won the 2015 election. It is impossible that such a person with power above the President cannot have an influence on Myanmar military force. And, director of the Office of the President U Zaw Htay himself said that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi ordered to eradicate the AA. Why didn’t she say anything about it so far if she really did not do so?” Ko Kyaw Than Hlaing said.
Major General Tun Tun Nyi from the Tatmadaw True News Information Team said in the press conference held in Nay Pyi Taw’s Defence Services Museum on 18 January that the State Counsellor instructed to effectively crush the AA.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Japan on 20 October to attend Japanese emperor Naruhito’s coronation.
