On 20th February, 2019, it was noted that for 6 of the youths alleged to get in fight and sentenced four and half-year in prison, 400 of local people would express their concerns to seek pardon in the morning of 29th October.
On the event, the slogan of being peace to children, peace to youth, peace to ethnic region, peace to public would be chanted and releasing would be urged for the person who did not engage in the incident. It was noted that the posters, that indicated to seek pardons for the two university students sentenced in prison to finish their education, were holding on marching.
“I was pleased over expression concerns today. I told the police chief that detention of some persons who did not involve was a result of deteriorated justice system. I would say someone who was above the law would be identified. The government also announced to build rule of law when it came into office. I assumed that the youths were affected by the lack of rule of law. The police were drunk when the Chin National Day was hold. The act of some police members was not acceptable. It was what I would like to point out” said Salai Thang Kee who involved in the marching.
It was noted that having involved the local youths and some police members in the riot on the event of 71st Chin National Day which was hold at Bo Thi Coen Stadium and alleged that public assets were destroyed, the 6 of youths were caught as suspects.
With regard to imprisonment to 6 of the youth, Although, Chin World Media reached the police station officer, it was replied that the case was occurred under the former police chief and nothing was clearly known to answer.
Due to above incident, the local youths from Matupi detained by the police were Aa Baung (23), Sawm Thang (19), Than Then (25) and majoring history 3rd year, Baik Thang (23), Htet Nain Oo (19) and majoring history 1st year and Ring Sang (21) and 6 in total were sentenced 10th October four and half-year in prison by Matupi Township court.
