AA Seizes Aungthapyay - a Border Guard Post on the frontier with Bangladesh

The Arakan Army (AA) has seized control of the Aungthapyay border guard post situated in the northern Maungdaw Township, near the border with Bangladesh, according to a March 12th statement by AA.

The statement revealed that the Aungthapyay border guard post came under complete control of AA on March 11. Multiple enemy casualties were discovered, along with seized weapons and ammunition. The number of Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel fleeing from the border post into Bangladesh has reached 179.

“We have uncovered evidence indicating that Junta forces have contaminated the food left within the Aungthapyay border guard post with a lethal poison. They have also poisoned the water bottles and sprayed poison inside the camp. Therefore, we urge caution to other armed resistance organizations regarding any food seized during camp-captured battles”, AA’s statement said.

According to the statement, in Rathedaung Township, the AA is intensifying its offensive, similar to previous days, while the Junta is staunchly resisting with its Army, Navy and Air Force.

The statement also highlighted that despite the absence of fighting in Minbya Township, the Junta ruthlessly conducted airstrikes, leading to the deaths of two civilians and injuring several others.

The statement disclosed that the terrorist Military Council also targeted Tankyoe mountain near Yaeboke Village in Ann Township, firing a machine gun from a helicopter around 5:00 pm unleashing about 8 rounds of attacks within a twenty-minute span. It emphasized that the crimes of the terrorist Junta are escalating day by day, and are being carried out more blatantly.
