Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — A joint force led by the Arakan Army (AA) successfully captured the Ko Taung Bok military base in Sagaing region on 30 January.

The base, which housed over 200 military personnel, is located on the border of Kawlin and Kanbalu townships in the region and strategically very important. The base offered a joint military facility for the junta forces and Pyu Saw Htee militias.

According to a source close to the AA, the operation to capture the base continued for four days before being succeeded on the night of 30 January. During the battle, some armed personnel were also captured alive. Moreover, around  20 bodies of the military personnel along with a large volume of weapons were seized by the AA fighters.

The attacks on the junta base were supported by various entities like PDF units from Kaw Lin district, the KPK and the KB2 along with some Kanbalu battalions.

Despite the junta's repeated aerial bombings and use of artillery & heavy weapons by the ground forces, they could not sustain their positions and finally abandoned the camp following the massive AA attacks.

Soon after the allied forces took control of the Ko Tung Boah military camp, a junta column in Kawlin township also retreated due to fear of AA fighters, said a ground military source.

The AA fighters are currently engaged in fighting in Sittwe and Kyaukphyu  of Rakhine State. Moreover, the Rakhine-Begu border, Rakhine-Magway border, and Rakhine-Irrawaddy border areas are also under gun-fighting.  Kachin and Sagaing regions also witness regular armed conflicts between the  Burmese soldiers and the AA fighters alongside many revolutionary allied forces.
