Maung Sar Ga — The United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) will launch an official lottery for the people of Rakhine on July 1, 2026.
Known locally as Laong Pao, the initiative is being organized by the Customs Department of the Rakhine People’s Revolutionary Government, according to sources close to the AA leadership.
The lottery features a grand prize of 50 million kyats. The second prize is set at 30 million kyats, followed by two separate tiers of 10 million kyats, including two runner-up prizes and ten additional consolation prizes.
Ma Khin Khin San, a local Rakhine resident, expressed her enthusiasm to Narinjara regarding the official launch.
“I am very happy and honored that our government is establishing an official lottery like this," she said. "Winning the grand prize of 50 million kyats would significantly support my family. If I win, I plan to give half of the prize money to my family and donate the other half to the country.”
Tickets will go on sale beginning June 1 at a price of 1,000 kyats per ticket.
The rollout follows recent crackdowns by the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, which has banned illegal lottery operations and underground gambling across several townships in Rakhine State.
