Khaing Roe La — The Arakan Army (AA) fired on a Tatmadaw vessel with artillery from land while the craft was in May Yu River of Rathedaung Township at about 3 p.m. on 25 November and the Tatmadaw retaliated against the AA with artillery fire.

The AA said it attacked a Tatmadaw navy craft about one mile away from the Rathedaung town with artillery and one craft was hit.

“The vessel was hit and smoke appeared from it. Then the Tatmadaw fired back. They arbitrarily attacked villages from that area with artillery shells until evening.  Casualties on their ship are likely,” said Khaing Thukha, spokesperson of the AA.

The Tatmadaw navy craft fired at the side of Pyar Pin Yin village with small and large scale weapons, no villagers were harmed, said a villager from Pyar Pin Yin village.

Colonel Win Zaw Oo, the head of Western Command, said a Tatmadaw navy vessel which stopped in May Yu River was attacked by the AA from a location near Pyar Pin Yin village but the attack was harmless.

“A navy craft which stopped in May Yu River was shot at from Pyar Pin Yin village located on western bank of the river but nothing happened and no one received injuries,” said Colonel Win Zaw Oo.

The AA also attacked six vessels including the Tatmadaw navy crafts in Kaladan River near Pi Kauk Wa Village of Kyauktaw Township on 22 November prompting the Tatmadaw to fire back.

The Tatmadaw announced that the bridge of a craft was damaged by the attack of AA.
