AA assumes Security Role for Indian Delegation Visit to Paletwa

The Arakan Army (AA) assumed security responsibilities as a delegation led by Pu Valalvena, Member of Parliament of Mizoram State, surveyed the road connecting Paletwa Township in Chin State to Mizoram State in India, local sources confirmed.

Many parts of Myanmar’s western border with Bangladesh and India are no longer in the hands of the post - coup-regime.

Construction of the four-lane highway connecting Paletwa and Mizoram has been halted since 2020 due to various reasons. The road was constructed from the Paletwa jetty, entering Indian territory.

The road was built as part of the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, with India investing 484 million USD in it, as a symbol of the friendship between India and Myanmar.

The aim was to complete the Paletwa-Mizoram Motorway project within five years; however, plans to restart the project in 2023 were suspended again due to clashes in the region.
