AA, allied troops seize Point 666 camp near Kapasa 16

Khaing Lu Hla (Roma Mray) — Many junta members abandon camp with heavy casualties

The Arakan Army (AA) and its allied forces took control of Point 666 camp, which serves as a checkpoint for the Kapas 16 located in Padaung Township, Bago Region, on January 28, around 5:00 pm, as confirmed by an AA military official to Narinjara on January 30.

"The Arakan Army and its allies launched a fierce attack and successfully seized the camp, overcoming the terrorist army's heavy air defenses. The camp was taken around 5:40 am on the 28th of this month," he told Narinjara.

The Arakan Army (AA) initially gained control of Point 666 on October 14 but withdrew temporarily due to military circumstances and airstrikes.

"This camp has been surrounded by the Arakan Army and its allies for a long time. In the past day or two, the junta troops were under intense fire, causing many casualties among their ranks. Some bodies and weapons have been collected, but several soldiers managed to escape from the camp," he stated.

While referred to as a camp, Point 666 is a heavily fortified position situated on a long ridge, where scattered bodies and arms have been recovered.

Unofficial reports indicate that the camp may house between 200 and 300 military personnel, the majority of whom are inexperienced recruits deceived into fighting at the front lines.

Recent updates suggest that the military commission has been continuously bombarding several nearby locations, including Point 666 and areas south of Bagan Gwe (Pang Kwe) village in Padaung Township.

Moreover, ongoing clashes are reported in the vicinity of the defense industry factory Kapasa 16, where soldiers fleeing from Point 666 are being hunted down and killed.
