90 soldiers killed in Demoso armed conflicts

More than 90 junta soldiers, including their officers, were killed in armed conflicts which started in the second week of this month in eastern Demoso Township of Kayah State, according to the report of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force on 26 March.

The KNDF fought against three military columns with over 300 soldiers headed from Bawlakhe to Dawhnyinkhue village in Demoso Township on 8 March.

The Karenni Army, the KNDF/B-10, KNDF/B-15 and Bawlakhe PDF took part the fighting against Infantry Unit 12, Light Infantry Unit 516 and 515.

From 20 to 23 march, KNDF/B-10, KNDF/B-15, KNDF/B- 16 ၊ KNDF/ETD and Nay Pyi Taw PDF jointly conducted anti-offensive attacks on the military columns.

After the battle, local forces seized some weapons, military equipment, ammunition and laptops , in addition to the dead and injuries of soldiers.

The junta troops are conducting retaliatory attack  with motor shelling and airstrikes almost every day until now.

The conflicts have forced the locals to flee from their villages, and over 100 houses were burnt down.

Two from KNDF, another two from KA, and one Nay Pyi Taw PDF fell in the battles.

Over 1,600 soldiers were killed in nearly 600 clashes in Kayah state after the coup, according to PKPF.
